Do you want to incorporate 3D printing into your curriculum but don’t have a lesson plan – or even a place to start?
You’re in luck! If you’re an educator and you’ve wanted to bring the power of 3D printing into your classroom, Stratasys – the world’s leading 3D printer provider – has a free 3D printing curriculum available for use.
Steps to Accessing the Free 3D Printing Curriculum
Find the Stratasys 3D printing curriculum here! On this page, you’ll be able to download the actual curriculum, as well as walk through the various components of the lesson plans contained within.
The course is structured into 14 units of instruction. This will take you across 14 weeks, or a full semester, with one unit per week. Each week, your students can spend approximately 4-6 hours on these lessons, consisting of two lecture hours and four lab hours. Depending on your classroom schedule, these hours can be taught in one continuous meeting or can be broken up into two separate weekly meetings.
If the 14 units in the 3D printing curriculum aren’t enough, you can gain access to five additional units – and you can even mix and match units as desired to meet your needs.

What Your Students Will Learn
The Stratasys 3D printing curriculum is great because of the terrific benefits it offers your students.
As a result of completing this curriculum, your students will have learned how to:
- Produce a fully-functional moving part
- Explore emerging 3D printing technology in manufacturing
- Understand the various abilities and limitations of current printing technology
- Evaluate the potential for 3D printing in a particular application or industry
- Save time and money while lowering costs through 3D printing
For many of your students – if not all of them – this will be the first time they have been exposed to 3D printing in any form. It will be an exciting moment for them when they first start using the printer, and some will be inspired to get into the manufacturing industry as a 3D printing advocate. Here’s why these printers are a foundational classroom tool.
