Today’s workforce needs skills in programming, operation and troubleshooting of modern PLC systems that use HMI panels, networking, and a variety of basic and advanced program commands. The 990-PS712 Portable PLC Learning System addresses this need by providing a comprehensive curriculum and application workstation that teaches modern PLC systems as they are used in industry today. Students learn both basic and advanced applications using the powerful Siemens S7-1200 PLC and use HMI panels and networks throughout the curriculum.
The 990-PS712 System comes with a mobile carrying case, workstation mounting panel, master control relay circuit, Siemens S7-1200 Programmable Controller, Siemens Step 7 Basic Software, Siemens HMI Panel, Siemens Ethernet Switch, I/O Simulator, five application circuits, student curriculum, instructor’s assessment guide, and installation guide. Students will learn industry-relevant skills including how to operate and program PLC systems for a wide range of real world applications.
Portable Workstation
The 990-PS712 is a mobile training platform that can be used to deliver training at multiple facilities. The 990 features a portable case with wheels and a handle for easy transport. The cover is quickly removed to enable the case to sit firmly upright on a table surface for student use. The cover also locks so the workstation can be safely stored when not in use.
Rich Applications: Basic through Advanced
The 990 Learning System enhances learning by featuring a wide array of real world applications to allow students to actually
see their programs control real systems. In addition to a discrete I/O simulator with discrete switches and indicators, the 990 includes application circuits and components for thermostatic temperature control, analog temperature control, reversing constant-speed motor control, variable speed motor control with feedback, and stepper motor control. These circuits include basic and advanced applications starting with discrete I/O projects and extending to projects involving motion control and analog I/O.
Modern Curriculum with Imbedded HMI and Networking
The 990 curriculum has been designed to teach modern PLCs as they are used today, with HMI and networking introduced in the basic lessons and applied throughout the curriculum. Learners cover a wide variety of program commands beyond timers and contacts, such as stepper motor control, PWM control, and analog control. This is made possible by the extensive Amatrol curriculum and the modern features of the Siemens S7-1200 PLC. It features a wide range of analog, discrete, data, and networking commands often only found in much larger and more expensive PLCs. Learners quickly develop relevant and critical skills to be job ready in modern industry environments.
Troubleshooting and Expandable Applications
The 990 also includes an option to add the 99-FTSS712 Portable PLC Troubleshooting Learning System – Siemens S7-1200. Computer-based fault insertion allows instructors to create realistic troubleshooting situations that learners will encounter on the job. Electronic fault insertion prevents component damage while allowing instructors to see student progress. Instructors can identify specific areas the student needs to improve and target those areas for remediation. It also allows students to perform self-directed study.
The 990’s applications can be expanded by connecting to other workstations using the built-in plug-in interface. Examples include Amatrol’s Process Control System, Fluid Power Learning Systems, and Mechatronics, just to name a few. The 990-PS712 is also expandable by connecting to other PLC modules to enhance the learning capabilities.
