The MINDS-i Catapult LAB is a great addition to project based learning. The focus is on having the student groups work together in choosing a design and constructing a catapult. They will use the catapult and supplied target to document the performance of their design. The data will be graphed using histograms as it provides a clear visualization of the catapults performance. With the histograms they have created they will be responsible for using the PDSA (Plan, Do, Study, Act) Cycle to modify the design with the intent of improving performance.
The overall goal of the LAB is for students to realize that not only the design process but almost every task they will face can be broken down into documentable parts and then continually improved upon.
Each Lab is designed to support a small group of students (1 to 3).
